'Fret Job' - Stage 6..... 'Stoning' or leveling the Frets
Gently 'stone' over the frets - up
and down the fingerboard.
The weight of the stone does the job - there is no
real need to apply any weight or pressure
Always protect the top
nut with a thumb.
The entire width of the frets must be evenly
'stoned'.
Protecting the pickups with the other hand.
The frets have to be 'stoned' from both directions.
It's very easy to knock the top nut off if
you're not careful.
If this happens, the headstock veneer or finish can be damaged.
The 'thumb' comes in very handy for protection.
