RESTORATION

I'm going to cover as many aspects of this subject as I can, as and when I can get round to getting up sections on the site.

This section is Incomplete.

There are three projects that I have done, or am doing that would be suitable for this section and luckily I have quite a few pictures showing the process'.....

A Royal DCS "TV" Junior from 1982
This is a complete restoration..... Stripping right down to bare wood and applying a finish that closely resembles the original . Doing a re-fret, making new parts and generally getting the guitar back to as close to original as possible.

A Gibson White Flying V from 1975
This was a partial restoration..... Re-plating all the hardware, making a new scratch-plate, plugging holes from 'old' hardware and blowing in a finish in small areas to match as closely as possible the finish around it. (To be continued later as well).

A Gibson Cherry Flying V from 1967
This is a complete restoration.....Stripping to the bare wood, plugging enlarged screw holes, doing a re-fret then applying a similar finish to the original, re-plating all the hardware, some being renewed and getting the guitar to pretty near the original condition.

Hints and Tips
This page includes tips on stripping off the finish (whatever it is) and covers some problems that you might come across during the process and also includes a section on tools, equipment and some hazardous substances you may be using.
