REPAIRING BROKEN HEADSTOCKS

Checking the Initial Repair

Clamps off.

Once the clamps, blocks and greaseproof have been removed, some dried glue is visible in the area of the repair.

Clamps off - some dried glue is visible.

The dried glue has to be gently sanded off.

Once all that has been done.....

The headface looks clean.

The head-face is quite clean. The job has come together well so far.

This shows where some lacquer had previously flaked off on the side of the headstock.

Although the break has come together well, the area where lacquer had flaked off is visible.

The repair on the back of the headstock is pretty well invisible.

Once cleaned up, the break has completely disappeared from view across the back of the head.
