Making a Shaped Guitar Case

Part 1 - Making the 'Formers'

Page 3

This picture shows a router cutter in the centre and the silver coloured pilot guide which follows the Template
When routed, the holes are actually smaller than they are on the Template - the difference in diameter between the cutter and the pilot.
( No power to the router while the picture was taken.)

Routing the holes from the Template.
( No power to the router while the picture was taken.)

The first half has been routed (on the left) - the second half has the Template on top ready to be routed as well.

Gluing up the 2 halves of the Inside Former with PVA glue.

With a few screws and a few cam clamps the 2 glued halves can be put together.

Because both parts have been routed off the same Template, they should match exactly to give you pretty perfect sides and holes.

All done
Essentially, this is the structure of the Inside Former.
Now, it just needs a 'sand' over with about 80 grit paper to clean it up and then a couple of coats of PVA glue ('thinned' with a little water) over the entire surface - top, bottom and sides..... which seals it.
When that's dried, I give mine a couple of coats of Matt Black spirit based paint.
