Using Mother-of-Pearl, Abalone and Brass Inlay is an 'art' in itself, and is extremely time-consuming if it's done properly, which is why the majority of manufactured guitars tend to have the 'transfer' method for headstock logos. Every fixed neck 'Royal Guitar' ( with only a couple of exceptions ) had a Mother-of-Pearl headstock inlay somewhere on the neck, and the majority of 'Royal Guitars' had some quite intricate types of design for fingerboard inlays too. This was an important part of " The Concept ".Hopefully there will soon be information pages on both Design and Inlay techniques using Mother-of-Pearl, Abalone and Brass and also some more pictures to view.
( The Picture above is of a New Crown Inlay in Brass..... and is about the size of a Postage Stamp.)

The picture above shows some inlays that
have been cut and also a couple of pieces ready to be cut.
If you note the pieces to be cut... On the right are just the individual
characters, on the left shows the characters joined up so the
inlay, when finished, is in 'script' form.
Please Click on the links below to see just a few inlays of many that have been done over the years.
