MAKING A HUNTRESS

Trimming the Headstock to Shape

Once the clamps and 'pad' have been removed, the headstock can be trimmed
to shape with a Bandsaw, leaving it slightly oversize.

As I had said in the introduction, I had originally decided to use the "Magenta"
headstock
shape for the Huntress, ( the neck at the top ), but I decided to
change it to a new version of the original headstock outline I used for
the
Electra Mk1 back in 1986.

Using a router with a 1/8" milling cutter, the headface over the end of the
truss rod slot
can be removed. The milling cutter is much less aggressive
than a standard two flute router cutter, for example, and can be gently
guided getting a clean edged slot.

This is now the basic shape of the Headstock, which is now 'pretty close'.

Now back to..... Making a Huntress.
