MAKING AN ANGEL

Gluing on the Headface

PAGE 3

Preparation

After doing the 'Dry Fit', using a Sharp Blade gently score both surfaces in a criss-cross pattern..... making sure that the score marks do not extend to where the edge of the Headstock will be.

Gluing Up

Next - smear a layer of Titebond* wood glue over both surfaces.

The Two Surfaces can now be brought together
Even pressure needs to be applied bit at a time to get the excess glue to squeeze out. Then, the 4 Veneer pins can be tapped back into place in their locating holes used in the 'Dry Fit', and when in place can be gently bent outwards at 45 degrees, as in the picture above..... This makes sure that the Veneer will not move when the 'Pad' and Clamps are applied.
The excess glue needs to be wiped off using a damp cloth. Make sure that no glue is present on the top surface of the Veneer, or the 'Pad' will stick to it.

The centre-line has been drawn in again and the Headstock pattern drawn on as well.
The 'Pad' is then laid on over the exact position of the pattern

Now the Clamps can be put in place and tightened, making sure that the Veneer has not moved.
When this has been done, leave overnight to dry.

The Next Stage is..... To trim the Headstock to size
