MAKING AN ANGEL
Cutting and Preparing the Neck Blank
PAGE 3
Sanding the Head
Sanding the Head
with a Disc sander will again 'mainly'
get the job done.
80 grit paper is probably best, but the surface of
the disc must be true and even, so using fresh
paper is advisable.
( No power to the Sander when the picture was
taken.)

Then Sanding with a 'Long
Block' and 80 grit paper does the 'rest'.
This may take quite some time to get right. This point in the procedure is Critically
Important.....
The Head MUST
be Straight and Level.

Checking for 'True' across the Head with an Engineers Square.

Checking the Headface for flat and level using a metal rule (or straight edge).
Marking Out
When the Neck has been
prepared, it has to be marked
out again with the Centre-line
and Headstock outline.

Mark in the Centre-line and lay the Headstock pattern in place.

The Headstock position is marked with the pattern.

All done and
ready fore the next stage - which is to cut the Truss
Rod Slot with a Router.
Now it's back to 'Making
an Angel'.
