MAKING AN ANGEL
Cutting and Preparing the Neck Blank

Leveling
Leveling or getting a true and flat surface on the Neck and Headface can initially be done in a couple of ways..... By Hand Plane, Electric Planer or with a Disc Sander.
Sanding the Neck
Sanding the Neck
with a Disc sander will 'mainly'
get the job done.
80 grit paper is probably best, but the surface of
the disc must be true and even, so using fresh
paper is advisable.
( No power to the Sander when the picture was
taken.)

Then Sanding with a 'Long
Block' and 80 grit paper does the 'rest'.
This may take quite some time to get right. This point in the procedure is Critically
Important.....
The Neck MUST
be Straight and Level.

Checking for 'True' across the Neck with an Engineers Square.

Checking for 'True' along the Neck with a 'Straight Edge'.
